The Pit Bull ban in Denver

Why Denver?

3,497 DOGS WERE EUTHANIZED (IN DENVER ALONE) BECAUSE OF THIS BAN!!!!

From 1995 to 2006, more people sought medical treatment for dog bites in Denver than anywhere else in the state of Colorado, which is the reason why Denver enables the BSL. Even counties without pit bull bans (Boulder, El Paso, etc.) showed fewer dog bites.

Although Denver bans pit bulls, the number of pit bull bites in Denver compared to other counties is not a significant difference….at least not enough for Pit Bulls to be banned!

Denver reportsthat since the ban, there have been 9 fatal dog attacks, and out of those 9, only 2 of them were Pit Bulls!!!

Pit bulls have caused the same number of fatalities in Denver as both the Rottweiler and the Malamute…..so why are Pit Bulls the only banned breed?!  Its because too many horrible people have used Pit Bulls for the wrong reasons (dog fighting and guard dogs).

Yes the total number of dog bites have gone down since Denver banned the Pit Bull, but several sources stated that it is not just Denver that has noticed a decrease in the number of dog bites; it is nationwide.  Even cities with no bans have seen a decrease in the number of bites.  Animal professionals have attributed this decrease to an increase in spaying and neutering awareness…not the ban!!
